ICM Implements New Beam Line For Two Pueblo Fabrication Shops,Increasing Efficiency and Capacity

Pueblo, CO, March 12, 2025Industrial Constructors/Managers, Inc. (ICM), a licensed general contractor specializing in industrial construction and plant maintenance, today announced that it has acquired a new beam line machine, which will increase steel fabrication capacity by up to 75%. Manufactured by BeamCut, the beam line automates the cutting, drilling, coping, notching, and etching process used to produce steel for industrial and commercial purposes. It makes steel fabrication more efficient, consistent and accurate, while also speeding up the process.

“The beam line is a huge benefit for us because it automates a lot of our procedures and reduces the man hours required to fabricate steel,” said Dustin Mincic, vice president of operations for ICM. “Now we can produce steel a lot quicker, whether we’re working with 2 inches of steel, 16 inches of pipe or a 60-foot long beam.”

The beam line drastically enhances the efficiency and capacity of ICM’s two Pueblo fabrication shops – a steel and pipefitting fabrication shop – the latter of which was just recently acquired last spring. Approximately 35% of ICM’s process piping jobs are now being prefabricated in the pipefitting shop, with capacity set to increase by 75% due to the installation of the new beam line. The beam line can handle a variety of structural steel components like beams, pipes, tubes, angles, and channels, and it can support complex cuts, including copes, miters, slots, and bolt holes, without the need for secondary processing.

“Acquiring the new pipefitting shop was a major win for us because it allowed us to vastly increase our scope of work to better meet market demand,” said Ed Myers, president of ICM. “The addition of the beam line takes that capacity even further, enabling us to automate how we cut steel, reducing labor costs and material waste while increasing efficiency. It also helps us deliver consistent, repeatable results for high-volume production, minimizing rework.”

Shop quality and processes are run in accordance with the ASME S Stamp and the NBIC R Stamp, which validate that the shop has met the following requirements:

  • The manufacture and assembly of power boilers for shop and field sites are run in accordance with ASME Code Section I
  • The fabrication and assembly of pressure piping for shop and field sites are run in accordance with ASME Code Section B3.1
  • Shop and field repairs and alterations of pressure-retaining items are run in accordance with the National Board Inspection Code and Jurisdictional Requirements
